A building should only let in outdoor air at design points where it is intended. The ventilation should be efficiently distributed to areas where it is required. Tools in this category will help diagnose problems with the building envelope and air distribution within the space. Measurements possible with these tools include tracking air pressure, air quality, leakage, and air flow.

CO2 Logger

Onset’s HOBO MX1102 CO2 logger makes it more convenient than ever to measure and record CO2 in buildings and other non-condensing environments. It measures CO2 from 0–5,000 parts per million (ppm) – and our free HOBOconnect app lets you access data right from your mobile phone or tablet within a 100-foot range of the logger.
The MX1102 also features a USB port so it can be used with a computer running HOBOware graphing & analysis software.

Digital Air Pressure Monitor

The T-VER-PX3UL transducer can measure either air pressure or velocity with the flip of a switch. The PX3 is available in three installation configurations: duct, panel, or universal. Duct and panel models have two pressure and velocity range options: 0-1" WC /0-3,000 ft/min or 0-10" WC / 0-7,000 ft/min, with seven fields electable sub-ranges for pressure and eight for velocity. All variants are available with and without display. The PX3 has an IP65/NEMA 4 environmental rating.

Personal O3 Monitor

2B Tech has taken the next step in miniaturization of UV-based ozone monitors by developing the Personal Ozone Monitor or "POM." The basic POM unit has dimensions of 4 × 3 × 1.5 inches and weighs only 0.8 lb / 1.0 lb without / with battery (340 g / 450 g). It has a built in GPS so that ozone measurements may be logged continuously along with geographic location. By folding the optical path in the shape of a "U," it was possible to achieve the same path length in the POM as in the Models 202, 205, and 106-L and thus have similar precision and accuracy (~1.5 ppb).

VOC and Temperature Monitor w/ Data Logging, Bapi

Humans exhale Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) as well as CO2. The BAPI sensor is able to measure these VOCs, therefore it is as good an indicator of space occupancy as a CO2 sensor. The BAPI Sensor is different from other VOC sensors because it has been optimized for Demand Controlled Ventilation (DCV). Using a calibration algorithm, the sensor value is converted to an output with a high correlation to a CO2 level. This lets you use ASHRAE’s occupancy-based VRP schedule to ventilate.

Carbon Dioxide and Temperature Monitor w/ Data Logging, Veris

The CDE and CWE are non-dispersive infrared (NDIR) sensors designed for measuring environmental CO2 concentration in ventilation systems and indoor living spaces. Their measurement range of 0 to 2000 ppm makes them compliant with ASHRAE and other standards for ventilation control
The CWE/CDE Series provides a user-selectable 4 to 20 mA or 0 to 10 Vdc output for versatility. Microprocessor-based digital electronics and a unique self-calibration algorithm improves long-term stability and accuracy.

Carbon Dioxide and Temperature Monitor w/ Data Logging, BAPI

The BAPI-Stat 3 CO2 Sensor is an accurate and reliable way of incorporating demand controlled ventilation into a building’s HVAC strategy. It has a field selectable output of 0-5 or 0-10V and has been optimized for periodically unoccupied areas. The unit features continuous automatic air pressure compensation for accurate readings despite the weather or the altitude of the installation, which earned the sensor a 2012 AHR Expo Innovation Award. The unit is available as CO2 alone or with temperature, humidity, temp setpoint and override.

Digital Pressure Transducer - Dry Media, Veris

The digital PXU Series differential pressure transducers utilize highly accurate, microprocessor profiled sensors. Designed to monitor duct and room pressure in commercial buildings, the PX Series offers exceptional job-site flexibility. The PXU features seven field-selectable ranges, allowing just one model to cover applications for 0-0.1” to 0-10” W.C. The directional mode jumper is used to configure the transducer in unidirectional or bidirectional mode for room and building static pressure applications. All models feature a pushbutton and digital input terminal to zero the output.

FLEX.US Ultrasound Leak Detector

The SDT FLEX.US detector works like a super microphone, sensitive only to high frequency ultrasounds. Using a sensitive piezoelectric crystal as a sensor element, minute high frequency sound waves excite or “flex” the crystal creating an electrical pulse that is amplified and then “heterodyned” or translated into an audible frequency that the technician can hear through a pair of noise reduction headphones. See attachments for additional information.
