Weather Normalization
Separate weather swings from real changes in how a building uses energy.
Monthly energy bills rise and fall partly because of the weather. This tool fits a degree‑day regression of each fuel's use, reports the weather‑predicted (“expected”) usage for every month, and shows the gap that weather doesn't explain — the part driven by retrofits, occupancy, controls, or operational drift.
What you'll need
- Monthly electricity (kWh), natural gas (therms), and geothermal (gallons, if used)
- Monthly HDD & CDD from NOAA NOWData for the same months
What it does
- Regresses cooling use vs. CDD and heating use vs. HDD
- Computes expected vs. actual energy per month and per year
- Reports model fit (R²) so you know how weather‑driven the building is
