Idaho Office of Energy Resources

The following information copied from the IOER website.

The Office of Energy Resources has the responsibility for energy planning, policy and coordination in the State of Idaho. Our goal is to communicate Idaho's energy policies to our stakeholders and provide the public with the information they need to help us meet our state's future energy needs.

Our website focuses on energy efficiency and the use of renewable energy resources, which are key elements in the state's 2007 Idaho Energy Plan. The Idaho Strategic Energy Alliance was created to enable the development of a sound energy portfolio for Idaho in response to the Plan. The Alliance consists of volunteer task forces and is Idaho's primary mechanism to engage in seeking options for and enabling advanced energy production, energy efficiency, and energy business in the State of Idaho. These efforts will supplement Idaho's baseload power sources, which provide the constant level of electricity needed to maintain the electricity grid and supply a minimum level of power to Idaho's customers.

The website also provides information about the office's current stimulus programs to the public, private, and non-profit sectors. Energy is a major focus of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act and OER is hard at work putting stimulus dollars into cities and counties that have demonstrated innovation in energy efficiency and conservation efforts, as well as those creating renewable energy technologies and resources.

Thank you,

John Chatburn
